Welcome to my studio!

My name is John Mario and I am a pianist vocal coach, conductor and teacher. I live in Temecula, CA and teach students of all ages and levels. My studio is very dynamic, and my students participate in a variety of events throughout the year, including recitals, music festivals, auditions, and competitions. 

Throughout my decades as a performer, I have never stopped teaching students of all ages. I am a believer of making learning fun for the student, and helping them achieve their individual goals with music about which they are passionate. I have taught children and adults of all ages and levels, from beginning piano and voice, to professional opera singers polishing a role to debut at the Metropolitan Opera. I bring my students the tools to use in their everyday practice and in performance. As the conductor for Jackie Evancho, I am also a specialist in the crossover style. And as a father of two, I am highly sensitive to how important it is to make a child's beginning instruction fun, rewarding, and motivational.

Apart from private teaching, I am also an active performer, I am veteran pianist, accompanist, conductor, and voice teacher with over 30 years of experience in private instruction in addition to the University setting. I bring years of performance experience to my students in addition to a solid technical foundation for a well-rounded learning experience. A native of Rhode Island, I started teaching and performing in Providence. My studies took me to Michigan, and upon graduation I taught in Ohio at the Ottawa Hills Conservatory in addition to running a private studio while also working as the assistant conductor at Toledo Opera. Eight years later, I moved to NYC where I founded the Westbury Conservatory and spent over a decade conducting across the country, in a variety of genres, from Opera and Symphonic works to the Jackie Evancho Tour.  After 20 years in NYC, I now reside in Sunny Southern California where I am the Music Director of the Temecula Valley Symphony of Temecula and Murrieta and the Coachella Valley Symphony! In 2016, I returned to the world of Musical Theater world to conduct Carousel with the acclaimed Barn Stage Company of Temecula. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
